BOSTON - Two Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) programs earned series sweeps on Saturday.
(RV) Sacred Heart earned the first conference sweep of the season over RIT in Rochester, N.Y., as it beat the host program 6-1 to close the weekend.
Three Pioneers had multi-point efforts. Senior defenseman Mikey Adamson got the scoring started for Sacred Heart, and senior forward Felix Trudeau took the lead for good when he made it 2-1 at 13:52 into the opening period.
Niagara moved to 3-0, the best start in program history, after it rattled off four straight in the middle frame after trailing 0-1 in the first period to take down (RV) Bowling Green 5-2.
Different skaters netted all five Purple Eagle goals. Graduate blueliner Lane Brockhoff led Niagara with two points (1G-1A).
In its second straight game against non-conference opponents, Air Force had a 2-1 lead over (RV) Colorado College heading into the second intermission. Despite this, they fell to the visiting Tigers 2-4.
For the first time this season, (RV) Canisius left the ice after 60 minutes with the taste of defeat. The Golden Griffins move to 3-1 after splitting with LIU, dropping the finale 1-6.
Bentley dropped its sole game against the NCHC's No. 5/5 Denver 0-6. Four of the six goals scored in the game came within the third period.
Holy Cross was blanked in the series finale at No. 6/8 Maine of Hockey East, losing the contest 0-6.
