BOSTON - Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) had three teams compete in non-conference action, with Sacred Heart pulling off an upset in Columbus, Ohio.
The Pioneers outshot No. 14/15 Ohio State 24-23 in the contest, including 7-4 in the opening period to set the tone. There was no scoring in the first period, but a goal to give the visiting AHA program a 1-0 lead was waived off. Early in the second period, Sacred Heart found itself down 0-1.
Senior forward Felix Trudeau played hero twice for the Pioneers, once to tie the game 15:29 into the third period to force overtime. The second time was more significant, as the Terrebonne, Quebec native delivered a dagger in overtime to top the Big Ten team 2-1.
Sophomore Ajeet Gundarah continued his dominance in the net as he stopped 22 of 23 shots on goal. This is the Pioneers' first win over a ranked program since it beat No. 18/20 Cornell at the Martire Family Arena on Jan. 11, 2025.
On the same night that the defending AHA Postseason champions raised banners, Bentley found itself down 0-1 for 3:36 during the opening period. However, once the Falcons found the back of the net, the scoring did not stop as they netted four straight.
Bentley welcomed its home crowd back with a 4-1 victory over (RV) Canisius behind a two-goal performance from sophomore forward Michael Mesic.
Sophomore goaltender Nicholas Bevilacqua made 28 saves for the home team.
RIT finished a strong evening, with four skaters finishing the game with multi-point performances, to help top Air Force 5-1. The Tigers outshot visiting Air Force in game one of two, 28-22, including 13-3 in the middle frame.
Senior forward Tyler Mahan scored his first two goals of the season on Friday.
Army West Point was outshot in the opening period, but found the back of the net first. After getting ahead 3-0, Holy Cross could not climb back into the game and cut the Black Knights' lead to two goals twice in the contest.
Different skaters scored all five Army West Point goals.
(RV) Niagara hosted USNTDP in an exhibition contest and won 4-1 on its home ice, also spreading the goals across four different Purple Eagles.
Despite leading 2-0 early in the game, Robert Morris fell 3-6 to Notre Dame of the Big Ten in South Bend, Ind.
Hockey East's UMass Lowell traveled to Erie, Pa., and blanked the Lakers 4-0 in the first of two games.
