BOSTON - Nine of 10 Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) programs hit the ice on the month's final day of play.
(RV) Sacred Heart shutout (RV) RIT 3-0 as the pair of AHA teams squared off in the 2025 Friendship Four consolation game before returning to the United State from Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Sophomore blueliner Michael Rubin opened the scoring late in the second period, this goal would also serve as the game-winner. Freshman goaltender Teagan Kendrick made 26 saves in the win.
Despite being a conference matchup, AHA points were not on the line at the Friendship Four.
Army West Point hosted No. 18/19 UMass and was able to upset the Minutemen thanks to four goals in the middle frame.
Junior forward Barron Woodring recorded three points (1G-2A) in the upset victory.
Air Force was unable to complete the road sweep in Buffalo, N.Y. over Canisius. The teams combined for six goals, splitting that down the middle to send the game to overtime.
The extra five minutes did not suffice for a game-winner and the contest was decided in a shootout that Canisius took 2-1.
Niagara scored the game's first two goals in the first period on Saturday, but after the opening 20:00 it could not find the back of the net again in regulation. RPI added three straight goals to the scoreboard and left the rink with a 3-2 victory over the Purple Eagles.
(RV) Bentley was shutout 0-3 against New Hampshire on its home ice in Waltham, Mass.
In a low scoring Pennsylvania-based contest, Mercyhurst struck first in Moon Township, Pa. to take a 1-0 lead 5:22 into the middle frame. The Colonials answered back 15:34 into the third period, but neither team could pot another goal.
While the game went to overtime, it was ultimately decided with a 3-2 shootout win for the Colonials who took the extra point in AHA's standings. Robert Morris took five of six possible AHA points in the series.
