Three AHA netminders named to Women’s Goalie of the Year “Watch List”

Penn State’s DeSa, Syracuse’s Drabyk and Robert Morris’s Hatch are AHA’s trio of goaltenders named to the award’s watch list.

BOSTON - Three Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) goaltenders have been named to this season’s “Watch List” for the Women’s Goalie of the Year Award, the Hockey Commissioners Association (HCA) announced on Wednesday.

Penn State senior Katie DeSa, Robert Morris redshirt junior Maggie Hatch and Syracuse freshman Ava Drabyk were all named to the list by the HCA.

KATIE DESA
DeSa has a 16-2-0 record in 18 games played and leads AHA with a 1.35 goals-against average and is third in the conference with a .928 save percentage. The senior netminder leads the nation with seven shutouts in 2025-26. The Penn State senior’s 16 wins are the third-most in Division I.

MAGGIE HATCH
Hatch leads AHA with a .932 save percentage and is third in the league with a 2.08 goals-against average. The Colonials’ goaltender is 8-9-2 in 20 games played between the pipes this season. The Robert Morris redshirt junior is tied for the second-most shutouts in the conference with five.

AVA DRABYK
Drabyk is second in the conference with both a 2.07 goals-against average and a .931 save percentage, and leads AHA with 616 saves. The Orange netminder leads all freshmen goaltenders with five shutouts, also tied for the second-most in AHA.

According to HCA, this initial “Watch List” of outstanding goalies is comprised of those with a goals-against average of
2.20 or lower or a save percentage of .923 or higher. A committee of voters — made up of a cross section
of coaches, administrators and media — will pare this list down within the next two weeks and then
ultimately choose the winner who will be announced in March during the NCAA Frozen Four.

Goaltenders not on the initial list can be considered before the first vote.
