BOSTON - Eight Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) programs hit the ice for conference action on Saturday.

Sacred Heart earned the league’s only sweep of an AHA foe in the weekend slate as it downed Holy Cross in back-to-back contests.

ROBERT MORRIS VS. CANISIUS
After falling to the Colonials on Friday, Canisius’s offense took charge with a commanding five-goal first period. Junior forward Walter Zacher scored twice for the Golden Griffins.

Sophomore goaltender Petter Wickström Stumer made 26 saves in his first-ever Division I shutout. This was the first game Canisius scored seven goals in since Oct. 13, 2018 (7-6 win at Holy Cross).

HOLY CROSS VS. SACRED HEART
Holy Cross netted the contest’s first two goals, but did not find the back of the net beyond the first 18:01 of gameplay.

On its home ice, Sacred Heart capitalized with three goals in the middle frame and two more in the third to earn a 5-2 sweep-clinching victory over the Crusaders.

MERCYHURST VS. NIAGARA
Niagara redeemed itself after a Friday loss with one goal in each regulation period to control a 3-0 lead before the halfway mark of the final frame.

The Lakers did score their first goal of the game 12:06 into the third period, but could not complete a comeback.

ARMY WEST POINT VS. AIR FORCE
In a rare 0-0 defensive battle that saw no regulation or overtime goals, Army West Point sophomore netminder JJ Cataldo made 32 saves in the shutout effort, and Air Force junior goaltender Dominik Wasik stopped 30 shots on net to also record a shutout.

Despite playing overtime, neither team could score a game-winner, and the contest was decided in a shootout. The Black Knights collected the extra point as they collected a 1-0 shootout win.
