BOSTON – Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) announced its first players of the week of the 2026-27 women’s season, with three schools represented among the honorees, led by Syracuse with two selections.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Forward of the Week: Greta Brezenski, Jr., Robert Morris (Waunakee, Wis.)
Defenseman of the Week: Jessica Cheung, Jr., Syracuse (Ottawa, Ont.)
Goaltender of the Week: Ava Drabyk, So., Syracuse (Saskatoon, Sask.)
Rookie of the Week: Morgan Stickney, Fr., G, Penn State (St. Charles, Mo.)

FORWARD OF THE WEEK
Greta Brezenski led all AHA scorers with six points in two games, including a natural hat trick and two assists Friday night in her Robert Morris debut. The Clarkson transfer, who had already assisted on a pair of Alaina Giampietro (Strongsville, Ohio) goals, scored three times in the second period to extend the Colonials’ lead against Post.

Her hat trick was the 22nd in RMU program history and just the fifth natural hat trick. She is the first player to record a hat trick in her Colonial debut, and her five points also set a record for a debut.

Brezenski added another goal Saturday night, tying the score in the third period and forcing overtime. Her two-game goal and point production surpassed her career totals in 52 games entering 2026-27 (3-2–5).

Brezenski led a group of six AHA players with multiple goals on the weekend. She is currently tied for the national lead in goals (four, with Wisconsin’s Kelly Gorbatenko) and points (six, with St. Cloud State’s Alice Sauriol).

DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK
Jessica Cheung was the only Syracuse player to score a goal in each game of the Orange’s weekend sweep of Stonehill, as the Ottawa native converted on the power play in both contests.

Cheung finished the weekend with 12 shots on goal (four more than any other AHA defenseman), a +1 rating and four blocked shots. A junior, she had three goals in 70 games her first two seasons on campus. 

Cheung’s two goals lead all defensemen in the nation and her two power-play goals share the national lead with Wisconsin’s Gorbatenko. This marks her first career AHA weekly award.

GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Ava Drabyk earned two wins and one shutout as Syracuse became the third AHA team to start the 2026-27 season 2-0-0 with a weekend sweep of Stonehill.

Drabyk was perfect Friday night, stopping all 17 Stonehill shots she faced to record her sixth career shutout.

Drabyk, who last year established an AHA record for the longest shutout streak (253:24), had a 96-minute shutout streak to start the season before Stonehill broke through Saturday night. On the weekend the Saskatoon, Sask., native had a .973 save percentage and a 0.50 goals-against average.

This marks Drabyk’s fourth time earning Goaltender of the Week honors. She was also AHA Rookie of the Week twice last season and the February Goaltender of the Month.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Morgan Stickney made 44 saves in her collegiate debut, pushing the No. 2 team in the country and defending national runner-up Ohio State to overtime before falling, 2-1. 

Thursday's game marked the first time in more than a decade that Penn State played a one-goal game against the Buckeyes (since a 3-2 win on Jan. 3, 2016). 

A St. Charles, Mo., native, Stickney’s 44 saves were the most for a Penn State goaltender in their collegiate debut over the last five seasons.
