AHA Women's Final Frame (Oct. 17, 2025)

Nittany Lions earn third straight shutout, and RIT splits its series with a big upset victory.

BOSTON - Six Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) teams met on Saturday, with AHA points in the standings on the line in two contests.

In the highly anticipated AHA Championship rematch, No. 6/6 Penn State topped No. 15/15 Mercyhurst 3-0 at Pegula Ice Arena in University Park, Pa., where it earned its third straight shutout and fourth overall in 2025-26. The home team has won nine of its last 10 against Mercyhurst.

Senior forward Tessa Janecke opened the scoring with her fourth of the campaign only eight seconds into the middle frame. The Penn State captain has scored in four straight games.

Senior netminder Katie DeSa made 18 saves to earn her 16th career shutout and third in 2025-26.

RIT scored early and never looked back as it downed No. 14/13 St. Lawrence 4-1 on its home ice. This is the first time the Tigers have beaten a ranked team since they defeated No. 7/6 Colgate 4-2 on Oct. 12, 2024.

Sophomore forward Brac Kelley scored a career-high two goals, including one on the power play and added a helper for a three-point night. Sophomore forward Kailey Favro also had a three-point night, assisting on three of the four goals.

Defending AHA Goaltender of the Week senior Sophia Bellina made 38 saves, only allowing one into the back of the net in the middle frame.

Delaware earned its first-ever point in the AHA standings. However, Syracuse took the extra point as it picked up an overtime victory in Newark, Del. Orange sophomore defenseman Celia Wiegand netted her first career game-winner at the 4:53 mark of overtime.

Freshman netminder Ava Drabyk earned her first collegiate victory, making 25 saves in the effort. Blue Hens' freshman goaltender Charlotte Payne made 48 saves in the effort, her third game with 40 or more this season, tying her for the most in Division I.

Robert Morris tied things at 2-2 against (RV) Yale briefly in the middle frame, but the Bulldogs pulled ahead for good 20 seconds after the game was tied. The Colonials fell on the road 2-5 in New Haven, Conn.
