Blue Hens make history in Delaware.

BOSTON - The newest program in Atlantic Hockey America (AHA), Delaware (1-3), picked up its first win in program history when it beat Hockey East's Holy Cross 2-1 at Fred Rust Ice Arena in Newark, Del., on Sunday.

This served as the first win for Allison Coomey as a head coach at the NCAA Division I level.

Three freshmen played key roles in the first victory at Fred Rust Ice Arena in Newark, Del.

Freshman netminder Charlotte Payne made 49 saves in the contest, allowing the first goal of the game to the visitors in the second period.

The scoring started for the Blue Hens when freshman forward Meera Smith potted her first career goal to tie the game at one a piece.

After scoring her first two collegiate goals on Saturday, freshman Katelynn Charlton was able to add a third on the weekend that would serve as the program's first-ever game-winner.

The program's first win comes just a week before its inaugural AHA matchup, as No. 6/7 Penn State heads to Newark, Del., for two games beginning on Friday, Oct. 10, and Saturday, Oct. 11.
