BOSTON - Six Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) programs competed on Friday with points in the conference standings on the line.
The day began at Lindenwood, and junior forward Zsofia Pazmandi was in a hurry to net the weekend's first goal only 11 seconds into the opening period to give Lindenwood its only lead of the day.
The Colonials answered back with two straight goals to take a lead, which they held until graduate blueliner Josey Dunne-Weeks potted one 3:31 into the final frame to force overtime. Neither team scored in overtime, sending the game to a shootout. Robert Morris took the extra point after winning the shootout 2-0.
Sophomore forward Julia Schalin scored two straight goals to give (RV) Mercyhurst a 2-1 lead at the near halfway point of the third period. Syracuse sophomore defenseman Celia Wiegand tied the game 18:29 into the third period to force overtime.
For the second time in the day, overtime was not enough to decide the contest. The Orange ultimately took a shootout 1-0. Freshman netminder Ava Drabyk made 31 saves in the effort.
No. 6/6 Penn State took a 2-0 lead on the road, but RIT junior defenseman Emma Pickering quickly tied the game with two goals in 35 seconds to make it 2-2 on the Tigers' home ice.
The Nittany Lions scored two straight shorthanded goals to close out the first period. The second, off graduate forward Mya Vaslet's stick, served as the game-winner. The visitors earned a 5-3 victory to remain undefeated, moving to 15-0 overall and 11-0 in AHA play.
