BOSTON - Five Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) programs hit the ice in action tonight, with four of the programs meeting in conference action.
(RV) Mercyhurst and Robert Morris got AHA play underway as the weekend's first game. Freshman forward Nayeon Kim scored in her second straight contest to take a 1-0 lead.
After the first goal, the Lakers did not look back and rattled off three more within the first 40:00 minutes to enter the second intermission leading 4-0. Sophomore forward Julia Schalin tallied three points (2G-1A) and became only the second AHA player to record a multi-point game against the Colonials this season. The Lakers prevailed 5-1 in Moon Township, Pa.
Both Syracuse and Lindenwood were held scoreless until 52:22 into the game (12:22 mark of the third period).
Freshman forward Michaela Paulinyova buried the first goal of the game with under 10:00 in regulation to give Lindenwood a 1-0 lead on its home ice. 17 seconds later, freshman forward Emma Gnade got the Orange on the board to score the final goal of regulation, tying things 1-1.
The trend continued in overtime as another freshman forward, Jordan Blouin, found the back of the net, only needing 1:04 to win the game 2-1.
RIT found itself in a 0-3 hole when it came time for the first intermission. However, after a major penalty against Colgate, the Tigers capitalized on the power play and scored twice.
Despite climbing back and making it a 2-3 score, ECAC Hockey's No. 13/12 Colgate tacked on two more and cemented a 5-2 win.
RIT scored its 16th and 17th power play goals of the campaign in the contest, the most in Division I by four.
