BOSTON - December's first day of action in Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) featured two of three home teams taking a win, including a big one for (RV) Mercyhurst.
The Lakers had their second-largest win by goal differential (9) since the start of the 2024-25 campaign, after downing Lindenwood 10-1 in Erie, Pa.
Mercyhurst held the Lions to 11 shots on goal, and sophomore netminder Magdalena Luggin made 10 saves. Apart from the stellar defensive effort, seven Lakers recorded multi-point efforts, with three tallying three and another trio recording four points each.
Sophomore forward Julia Schalin netted a hat trick, and senior forward Sophie McKinley also scored twice in the victory.
Despite trailing 0-2 to Delaware early in the second period, RIT junior defenseman Emma Pickering scored halfway through the middle frame to get RIT on the board.
The Tigers clawed back to a 3-2 lead after Pickering's goal, scoring all three in only 63 seconds. After the first goal, RIT rattled off five straight and left its home rink with a 5-2 victory. Pickering and sophomore forward Brac Kelley each scored twice in the contest.
Robert Morris earned its fourth shutout win of the season as it downed Syracuse on the road 1-0. The game's only goal came off the stick of junior defenseman Thalia D'Elia 1:52 into the final frame.
Redshirt junior Maggie Hatch became the third goaltender in Colonials' history to make 2,000 career saves after recording 36 in her third shutout this season.
