AHA Men's Players of the Week: Oct. 12-18, 2026

Army West Point sweep garners two honors.

BOSTON – Players from Army West Point (two), Niagara and Air Force claimed Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) men’s player of the week honors this week for their performances Oct. 12-18.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Forward of the Week: Barron Woodring, Army West Point
(Sr., Downers Grove, Ill.)
Defenseman of the Week: Noah Mertz, Army West Point (Fr., Coventry, R.I.)
Goaltender of the Week: Charles-Edward Gravel, Niagara (So., Levis, Que.)
Rookie of the Week: Brady Arneson, Air Force (F, Red Wing, Minn.)

FORWARD OF THE WEEK
Barron Woodring matched a career high with three points (one goal, two assists) Saturday night and added another goal Sunday as Army West Point completed its weekend sweep of Holy Cross, the first time the Black Knights have opened conference play with a sweep since 2017-18.

Both goals came on the power play, fueling a 5-for-10 weekend for Army with the man advantage. It marked the first time in the senior’s career that he has scored in both games of a weekend series.

Woodring has now earned three AHA weekly awards in his Black Knights career (previously Rookie of the Week on Jan. 2, 2024, and Forward of the Week on Dec. 2, 2025).

DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK
Noah Mertz recorded three points, all on the power play, as he quarterbacked an Army West Point unit that went 5-for-10 in its weekend sweep of Holy Cross. The freshman assisted on the Black Knights’ first power-play goal of the weekend on Saturday for his first collegiate point, then added his first goal and another assist in Sunday’s 3-1 win.

Mertz shares the lead among AHA freshmen defensemen with three points on the season in just three games.

This marks Mertz’s first career AHA weekly award.

GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Charles-Edward Gravel made 36 saves Saturday night at Bowling Green to lift Niagara to a 2-1 win and a weekend sweep of the No. 18/19 Falcons. Gravel gave up a goal in the first two minutes of the game but was perfect from that point, allowing his teammates to come back for a second straight one-goal victory.

Through four starts with the Purple Eagles, Gravel is 2-2-0, with a 1.79 goals-against average and a .941 save percentage. Both his GAA and save percentage lead all AHA goaltenders.

It marks the first career AHA weekly award for Gravel, who spent last season at Mercyhurst.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Brady Arneson scored the first two goals of his career on Thursday night and chipped in two assists in Air Force’s 5-2 victory over visiting Lindenwood. Arneson followed that with another two-goal effort on Friday, scoring the first two goals of the game within 90 seconds in the first period.

Two of Arneson’s goals came on the power play and his six points led all AHA skaters. He had five shots and a +2 rating on the week.
