AHA Women’s Final Frame (March 14, 2026): No. 3 Penn State advances to 2026 Women’s Frozen Four

The Nittany Lions are the first team in the conference to reach the Frozen Four since Mercyhurst did so in 2014.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - No. 3-seeded Penn State downed No. 6 UConn 3-0 in the regional final of the NC Women’s Ice Hockey Championship at Pegula Ice Arena on Saturday to advance to the 2026 Frozen Four, the first time it has done so in program history.

The last time an Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) program reached the Frozen Four was in 2014, when Mercyhurst did so.

Senior goaltender Katie DeSa recorded a season high 36 saves en route to her Division I-leading 12th shutout of the 2025-26 campaign.

Three different Nittany Lions scored in the effort, including senior forward Tessa Janecke, who recorded her 199th career point (87G-112A) in her 144th collegiate game.

The home team put up 42 shots in the win, scoring two of the three goals in the final 20:00.

Penn State will take on No. 2-seeded Wisconsin from the WCHA in its first-ever Frozen Four game on Friday, March 20, with puck drop to be announced later.
