Sacred Heart's Jaworski, Gundarah, Mercyhurst's Geregach, and Air Force's Blessing Earn AHA Player of the Week Honors

Quartet recognized for performances during games Nov. 4-10

BOSTON, Mass. - November 11, 2024 - Atlantic Hockey America is proud to honor four student-athletes as AHA Players of the Week for their outstanding on-ice performances in games of Nov. 4-10, 2024. This week's winners are Sacred Heart graduate student John Jaworski (Forward), Mercyhurst senior Dustin Geregach (Defenseman), Air Force senior Guy Blessing (Goaltender), and Sacred Heart first year Ajeet Gundarah (Rookie).

AHA FORWARD OF THE WEEK
John Jaworski, Gr., F, Sacred Heart

Sacred Heart's John Jaworski tallied four points on two goals and two assists in SHU's sweep over Mercyhurst this past weekend. Jaworski picked up an assist in Friday's 4-3 win, then orchestrated a three-point game in Saturday's 4-1 win. He scored a pair of goals, one on the power play, to secure the first multi-goal game of his career. The Grinnell, Iowa native potted the goals in a span of 5:50 in the 2nd period, with his power play goal at 6:28 of the 2nd period proving to be the game-winner. He also dished out an assist for good measure. Jaworski is now riding a three-game point streak, having accumulated six points on three goals and three assists in that stretch. He is up to three goals and five assists for eight points on the season.

AHA DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK
Dustin Geregach, Sr., D, Mercyhurst

Mercyhurst senior defenseman Dustin Geregach scored three goals for the Lakers in three games over the past week. Geregach scored twice, once short-handed, on Monday, Nov. 4 vs. Robert Morris, giving him his first multi-goal game of the season. He scored the first goal of the game at 3:11 of the 1st period, then scored a short-handed goal at 18:27 of the 2nd period. The McKees Rocks, Penn. native then scored his third goal of the week on Friday, Nov. 8 at 19:05 of the 1st period vs. Sacred Heart. On the season, Geregach is up to 10 points on four goals and six assists. His 10 points lead the Lakers and is tied for fifth in Atlantic Hockey.

AHA GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Guy Blessing, Sr., G, Air Force

Air Force goaltender Guy Blessing led the Falcons to a pair of wins over Canisius this past weekend. Blessing put together a 21-save shutout in Air Force's 2-0 win on Friday, Nov. 8. It was his first shutout of the season and the foruth of his career. He then stopped 27-of-28 shots for a save percentage of .964 in a 2-1 win on Sunday, Nov. 10. On the weekend, Blessing denied 48-of-49 shot attempts, good for a save percentage of .980 and goals-against average of 0.50. In four AHA games this season, the Chandler, Ariz. native owns a strong 1.26 GAA and .950 save percentage to go along with a 3-1-0 record. This is Blessing's second AHA Goaltender of the Week honor this season, with the first coming on Oct. 7.

AHA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Ajeet Gundarah, Fr., G, Sacred Heart

Making his first two collegiate starts this past weekend, Sacred Heart's Ajeet Gundarah led the Pios to a 2-0 weekend on the road at Mercyhurst. Gundarah made 26 saves in a 4-3 win on Friday, Nov. 8 to earn his first collegiate win in his first career start. He followed that up by stopping 34-of-35 shots for a save percentage of .971 en route to a 4-1 win on Saturday, Nov. 9. In total, the Richmond, British Columbia native turned aside 60-of-64 shots on the weekend, good for a save percentage of .938 and goals-against average of 2.00 to give SHU six conference points.

Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) embarks on its first season in 2024-25 after the merger between the Atlantic Hockey Association and College Hockey America. The conference fields 11 men’s teams (American International College, Bentley University, Canisius University, The College of Holy Cross, Mercyhurst University, Niagara University, Rochester Institute of Technology, Robert Morris University, Sacred Heart University, the United States Air Force Academy, and the United States Military Academy), and six women’s teams (Lindenwood University, Mercyhurst University, Penn State University, Rochester Institute of Technology, Robert Morris University, and Syracuse University).
