BOSTON - Conference play is in full gear as six Atlantic Hockey teams continue their conference schedules, giving us three series this week.
Syracuse began the week for AHA programs on Tuesday at No. 4/4 Cornell, but fell 0-5 in Ithaca, NY.
MATCHUPS
Oct. 31-Nov. 1 (Friday/Saturday)
- Lindenwood at RIT
- Delaware at (RV) Mercyhurst
- No. 6/6 Penn State at Robert Morris
QUICK HITS
- Eight of the top 10 skaters with the most blocks this season are with AHA programs, including Delaware freshman defenseman Lexie Lonask (37), who leads the nation.
- Lindenwood senior forward Molly Henderson enters the weekend two short of 100 career games played (98). If Henderson skates in both games, she will be the 14th active AHA skater with 100+ games played.
- Delaware is set to hit the road for two games at (RV) Mercyhurst. When the Blue Hens take the ice on Friday, it will mark the first time in program history that they have done so away from Newark, Del.
- Penn State is the only program this season to score 10 or more goals against a conference opponent in a single week twice.
HOCKEY VALLEY HEAT WAVE
No. 6/6 Penn State is off to its first 10-0-0 start in program history, after sweeping Lindenwood at Pegula Ice Arena last weekend. After the Nittany Lions' game two victory of the series, they became the first team in Division I to reach 10 wins.
Senior forward Tessa Janecke has recorded at least one point in eight straight games, tied for the second-longest streak of its kind in Division I. Janecke has tallied 14 points (7G-7A) since the streak began on Sept. 25.
The Nittany Lions' captain also netted two goals (one shorthanded) on Friday, Oct. 24, including her 70th career goal. The Orangeville, Ill., native sits three assists away from 100 and is on pace to become only the fifth active skater in the nation to reach the century club in helpers.
En route to an undefeated start, a duo of freshmen has stepped up for Penn State. Among all freshmen in the nation this season, Danica Maynard's 14 points (3G-11A) are the second-most among and lead all defensemen. Forward Matilde Fantin has recorded 12 points (5G-7A) and is tied for the national lead among freshmen in goals.
Senior goaltender Katie DeSa has recorded three shutouts this season, tying her for the second-most in women's collegiate hockey.
EARNING THEIR STRIPES
RIT still leads the nation this season with 13 power play goals. The Tigers' success on the man advantage has accounted for nearly 45 percent of their total offense (29G).
The unit is operating at a 33.3 percent success rate and is 5-2-0 when scoring at least one on the power play. RIT is 0-3 when it does not score on the man advantage.
Heading into 2025-26, the most power play goals that RIT had in a game were three. The Tigers broke that record in their second game of the season against Post, netting six and one shorthanded.
With another series in Rochester, N.Y., this weekend, the AHA program has the opportunity to add to its nine goals from its special teams unit on home ice, the most in Division I.
BY THE NUMBERS
3 - RIT is one of five teams that have netted a power play goal in at least three straight games. The Tigers lead the nation with 13 power play goals in 2025-26.
273 - Mercyhurst sophomore netminder Magdalena Luggin's 273 saves are the second-most in Division I.
77 - Penn State senior forward Katelyn Roberts enters the weekend with 77 career points (32G-45A). Roberts has the second-most points among active AHA skaters. Heading into the weekend, there are 22 active players with 80 or more career points.
