BOSTON - Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) announced its first four Players of the Week for the 2025-26 men's campaign on Tuesday.
Three institutions were represented, and all players contributed to their programs going undefeated during the season's opening weekend.
Forward: Grant Porter, SR, Canisius (Weston, Mass.)
Defenseman: Lukas McCloskey, FR, Army West Point (Newport Beach, Calif.)
Goaltender: Chase Clark, SR, Canisius (Williamsville, N.Y.)
Rookie: Marshall Finnie, FR, Niagara (Lethbridge, Alberta)
Porter helped cement Canisius's first 2-0 start since 1998-99, as the senior forward led AHA in points (3) and goals (2) in the inaugural week of 2025-26.
The Weston, Mass. native is tied for the most goals (14) among active Canisius skaters. This is Porter's first AHA Forward of the Week honor
Army West Point's McCloskey became the first freshman to be named AHA Defenseman of the Week since Dominic Elliott (Robert Morris) did so on Nov. 4, 2024.
McCloskey registered his first collegiate point by netting a power play goal in the first period to take a 1-0 lead at (RV) Union's inaugural home game at M&T Bank Center in Schenectady, N.Y. This was the first regular season men's goal in the new home of Union hockey.
McCloskey is one of five active defensemen in the nation to score in their first collegiate game, and the only one to do so on the man advantage.
Clark picks up his third AHA Goaltender of the Week award after a strong Canisius debut, posting a .956 save percentage and a 1.50 goals against average, both the second-highest in AHA's first week.
The AIC transfer made 65 saves and faced 68 shots in his first two games this season. The Williamsville, N.Y. native is one game away from his 20th collegiate victory.
Finnie became one of three freshmen in 2025-26 (including Niagara's Declan McDonnell) to score two goals in their Division I debut.
Since 2020-21, only three players have scored two power play goals in their first Division I game, including the pair of Purple Eagles.
The Lethbridge, Alberta native is one of two AHA freshmen (Carl Hudson, Canisius) to score two power play goals in their first game.
