BOSTON – Mercyhurst scored a power-play goal 11:33 into the third period to beat Lindenwood in the Lions’ home opener, 2-1, in the lone Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) women’s game on Thursday.

Maryland Heights, Mo. – Mercyhurst freshman Halle Duchene (Saskatoon, Sask.) scored a power-play goal in the third period to extend her point streak to three games and lift the Lakers to a 2-1 victory Thursday afternoon at Lindenwood.
The power-play goal was the first surrendered by the Lions in seven games this season, snapping a streak of 18 consecutive successful penalty kills.
Lindenwood’s Tatiana Blichova (Presov, Slovakia) and Mercyhurst’s
Regina Metzler (Budapest, Hungary) traded goals just 1:16 apart in the first period before a scoreless second.
Two freshmen starred in goal, as Ebba Ridderstolpe (Botkyrka, Sweden) stopped 39 shots for Lindenwood, while
Grace Kipfer (Mitchell, Ont.) had 18 saves to earn the victory in her collegiate debut.
