ROBERT MORRIS 3, AIR FORCE 2
Box Score |
Game Highlights
Moon Township, Pa. – A shorthanded goal from Patrick Johnson (Chesterfield, Mo.) provided the difference as Robert Morris emerged with a win and a split in its two-game series with Air Force, both one-goal games decided in the third period.
Special teams were key for the Colonials throughout, as they earned their first AHA win of the season. The power play – just 2-for-28 (7.1%) entering the game – was 2-for-5, with Jackson Reineke (Faribault, Minn.) and
Bruce McDonald (Ottawa, Ont.) scoring in the second period.
The penalty kill, backed by goaltender Charlie Schenkel (Toronto, Ont.), quieted all four Falcon power-play opportunities and produced Johnson’s first career shorthanded goal at 5:53 of the third.
