BOSTON – The Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) women’s players of the month for September and October include three members of the first-place Penn State Nittany Lions and the first Delaware Blue Hen to capture a conference monthly award.

SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER PLAYERS OF THE MONTH
Forward of the Month: Abby Stonehouse, Penn State
(Jr., Blenheim, Ont.)
Defenseman of the Month: Sophie Morrow, Penn State (So., Darien, Conn.)
Goaltender of the Month: Charlotte Payne, Delaware (So., Oakville, Ont.)
Rookie of the Month: Morgan Stickney, Penn State (G, St. Charles, Mo.)

FORWARD OF THE MONTH
Abby Stonehouse
leads AHA players in points per game (1.40) after recording 14 points (seven goals, seven assists) in 10 games through September and October. She ranks second in the conference in points, trailing only teammate Sofia Ismael (St. George, Ont.), and tied for second in goals, one shy of teammate Grace Outwater (Picton, Ont.).

Stonehouse had at least a point in seven of her 10 games through the end of October, including a career-high four points (all assists) on Oct. 3 against Robert Morris. She had four multiple-point games, two game-winning goals, two power-play goals and a shorthanded goal.

Stonehouse, who missed two games in October while attending training camp with the Canadian National Team, finished the month by winning her first AHA Forward of the Week honor of her career. She scored four of Penn State’s seven goals in a weekend sweep of RIT, including her first career hat trick on Oct. 31.

DEFENSEMAN OF THE MONTH
Sophie Morrow leads all AHA players in assists (12) and is tied for third in points (13) through 12 games. She has five more points than the next closest defensemen. Her +8 rating ranks tied for fifth among all AHA players and second among defensemen.

Morrow had four multiple-point games, including a career high in points and assists with four Oct. 31 at RIT. Her lone goal was the game-winner late in the third period Oct. 16 against Lindenwood, part of a three-point game and a four-game point streak. She was named AHA Defenseman of the Week twice, on Oct. 5 and 19.

Morrow enters November just three points shy of matching her season total from last year (16) as a freshman.

GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH
Charlotte Payne is the first Delaware player to earn an AHA monthly award after posting a 3-6-1 record, 2.31 goals-against average and .934 save percentage through October. She leads the nation in saves (324) and her win total has surpassed hers and Delaware’s from its inaugural season last year.

Payne’s victories include the first shutout and first road AHA win in school history (Oct. 29 at Syracuse) as well as the school’s first win against an ECAC Hockey opponent (Oct. 16 vs. Union). She had seven games with 30-plus saves and three with 40 or more.

Payne was named AHA Goaltender of the Week twice, on Oct. 5 and 19.

ROOKIE OF THE MONTH
Morgan Stickney leads all AHA freshmen goaltenders in wins (5-1-0), goals-against average (1.62) and shutouts (two), and shares the lead in save percentage (.926) through her first seven starts.

Stickney’s first career start was a 44-save, 2-1 overtime loss to Ohio State, currently the unanimous No. 1 team in the country. She has followed that with five wins, including in each of her last four starts. In that four-game stretch she has allowed just two goals, posting a 0.50 GAA and .973 save percentage.

Stickney has earned AHA Rookie of the Week honors twice (Sept. 28, Oct. 19) and Goaltender of the Week honors once (Oct. 26) in the first six weeks of her collegiate career.
