BOSTON - The weekend comes to a close in Atlantic Hockey America (AHA), RIT was the only program in the conference to earn a sweep on Saturday.
Lindenwood came into the second game in Erie, Pa., trying for a very different result. The Lions found the back of the net three times in the first period. Freshman blueliner Quinlyn Borner opened the scoring with her first collegiate point 18 seconds into the game.
The Lakers struck again in the middle frame to make it a one-goal deficit, but could not pot another in the game. Lindenwood earned a 4-2 victory to earn a split.
Different Lions scored all five goals. Three skaters for Lindenwood had multi-point efforts. Senior goaltender Lexington Secreto made 32 saves in the Saturday win.
RIT scored the game's first three goals in the first 24:15. Delaware got on the board twice in the third period, but it was not enough, as RIT added one more and cushioned a 4-2 victory.
This afternoon, the Tigers also celebrated their 50th anniversary of the women's hockey program on their home ice at the Gene Polisseni Center.
Robert Morris and Syracuse went into overtime on Saturday, but neither team could find the back of the net, taking it to a shootout. The Colonials took the game in a shootout courtesy of redshirt sophomore forward Alaina Giampietro.
