University Park, Pa. – Robert Morris scored three goals in the first period and had a two-goal game from George Krotiris (Markham, Ont.), fueling a 5-2 road victory at Penn State on Tuesday.

The win is the first of the season for the Colonials after an 0-4-0 start and the first against their in-state rivals since Dec. 28, 2015, in the Three Rivers Classic. RMU improves to 5-8-0 all-time against the Nittany Lions.

Patrick Johnson (Chesterfield, Mo.) scored Robert Morris’s first goal for the second game in a row, this time just 20 seconds into the first period. That sparked a three-goal frame for the Colonials, with Michael Felsing (Pittsburgh, Pa.) finishing a 2-on-1 and Krotiris scoring on the power play, RMU’s first power-play goal since the season opener.

Penn State’s Justin Poirier scored twice to cut the lead to 3-2 before Krotiris responded with his second goal and Jackson Reineke (Faribault, Minn.) added one into an empty net. Lucas Massie (Claremont, Calif.) made 33 saves for the Colonials.

The two teams will meet again at Pittsburgh’s PPG Paints Arena on Sunday, Feb. 7.
